Judge Joseph Dredd was created for 2000 AD by Pat Mills, Carlos Ezquerra and John Wagner in March 1977. Dredd was a law enforcement and judicial officer in Mega-City One, a dystopian metropolis on the east coast of the USA. As a ‘street judge’, Dredd was authorised to arrest, sentence, and execute criminals. Dredd first appeared in an American comic in his own series in 1983.
