Captain Gerald Cadman - the Fighting Coward - was created by Mike for VICTOR no. 625 in February, 1973 and ran until 1990. This was his first war story and he remembers the thrill of getting the first scripts. Hard to believe that was 48 years ago!

Modelled on the anti-hero, ‘Flashman’, by George McDonald Fraser, Cadman lied and scammed his way through World War I, coming out with medals and accolades. Only his bat-man, Tom Smith, was aware of the hero’s cowardly reality. Cadman went on to work for the British Secret Service prior to the World War II, suggesting his deeds were never uncovered.
